1.Availability categories
This policy is designed to allow international account applications from non-restricted jurisdictions while preserving local-law, licensing, sanctions and product-availability controls.
South Africa is the initial fully active fiat market. Residents of non-restricted countries may apply for an account where SYENU has enabled international onboarding; approval is subject to KYC/AML and local-law eligibility. Kenya/KES is planned but not represented as active until officially launched.
| Category | Status | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| South Africa | ACTIVE LAUNCH MARKET | ZAR fiat funding and supported spot/crypto Services may be provided, subject to account eligibility. |
| International Eligible Jurisdictions | APPLICATIONS MAY BE ACCEPTED | Residents of countries not listed as Restricted may apply where SYENU enables onboarding. Services may be crypto-only and remain subject to local law, KYC/AML, product availability and SYENU approval. |
| Kenya | PLANNED / NOT YET FULLY ACTIVE | Expansion market. KES deposits/withdrawals are not yet represented as available. Kenya-specific services become active only after official announcement. |
| Restricted Jurisdictions | NOT ELIGIBLE | Registration, account use, deposits, trading and withdrawals are not available, except where required to facilitate lawful account closure or asset return. |
2.Current Restricted Jurisdictions
As of September 2026, SYENU does not accept residents of, or permit use of the Services from, the following countries or territories/regions. This is a SYENU risk and eligibility policy and may be updated as legal and regulatory conditions change:
| Restricted jurisdiction | Restricted jurisdiction |
|---|---|
| Afghanistan | Belarus |
| Canada | Cuba |
| Mainland China | India |
| Iran | Iraq |
| Kazakhstan | Libya |
| Myanmar | North Korea (DPRK) |
| Russia | Somalia |
| South Sudan | Sudan |
| Syria | Ukraine |
| United States of America and its territories | Yemen |
For Ukraine, SYENU may apply restrictions to the whole jurisdiction or to specific sanctioned/occupied/non-government-controlled areas depending on sanctions, banking, security and operational conditions at the time. The Platform’s current onboarding controls and official notices prevail.
3.Restricted persons regardless of country
- Any person or entity subject to applicable sanctions, asset-freeze or terrorism-related restrictions.
- Any person acting for, on behalf of, or for the benefit of a prohibited or sanctioned person.
- Any person using false identity, residence, nationality or location data to evade restrictions.
- Any person whose onboarding or continued use would cause SYENU to breach applicable law, court/regulatory orders or binding sanctions.
4.International Eligible Jurisdictions
If your country is not listed as Restricted, you may apply for an account where SYENU has enabled international onboarding. This does not guarantee approval or that every Service will be available. SYENU may limit or deny a Service where local licensing, financial-promotion, banking, sanctions, tax, consumer-protection, Travel Rule, data-protection or other rules require it.
International users may therefore be able to use supported crypto deposit, withdrawal and spot-trading functions even where local fiat funding is unavailable. ZAR is the only fiat currency represented as supported at launch.
5.FATF high-risk and increased-monitoring jurisdictions
SYENU takes FATF statements into account. Jurisdictions subject to a FATF call for countermeasures, comprehensive sanctions or equivalent severe restrictions may be prohibited. Jurisdictions under FATF increased monitoring (“Grey List”) are not automatically prohibited solely because of that status. Customers from those jurisdictions may be subject to enhanced due diligence, source-of-funds checks, lower limits or enhanced ongoing monitoring.
6.Kenya
Kenya is a planned expansion market. Kenyan residents may be subject to separate onboarding availability and local regulatory conditions. KES deposits, KES withdrawals and Kenya-specific exchange services are not represented as active until SYENU issues an official launch notice. Kenya is not treated as prohibited solely because of FATF increased-monitoring status.
7.Citizenship, residence and physical location
Eligibility may depend on residence, nationality, tax residence, physical location, documentation, banking access and other factors. Citizenship in a supported country does not override a residence-based restriction. Travel into a Restricted Jurisdiction may cause temporary access or transaction restrictions.
8.VPNs, proxies and location-obscuring tools
Use of a VPN or proxy is not automatically prohibited. SYENU may nevertheless review or restrict an account where such tools appear to conceal a prohibited location, evade jurisdiction controls, compromise account security or interfere with compliance checks.
9.Changes to country status
SYENU may add, remove or modify country restrictions without waiting for a scheduled policy review where sanctions, laws, licensing, banking, payment, cybersecurity, fraud, tax-reporting, Travel Rule or risk conditions change. Where reasonably practicable, material changes affecting existing customers will be communicated.
10.Customer duty to update residence
Customers must promptly update country of residence, tax residence and other material information. Moving to a Restricted Jurisdiction may result in limitations, re-verification or closure.
11.Contact
Questions about country availability may be sent to hello@syenu.com. Customers should rely on the current version published by SYENU and the eligibility shown during onboarding.
